Resting Followers Part 2

Have you ever thought you were completely over something, and then one comment, one look, one person brought it all rushing back like no time had passed at all?

That's not you being dramatic. That's not you being "too sensitive." Pastor Dana Everage calls it residue, pain that never fully got released, sitting quietly until the right button gets pushed.

Here's the part that might surprise you: this doesn't stop happening just because you got saved, got healthier, or "dealt with it years ago." Every person carries some residue. The wound heals over, but the memory of it stays wired into your mind, waiting.

So what do you do when someone pushes that button and you're right back in it?

First, stop being hard on yourself for still feeling it. Being triggered isn't proof you're broken or that your healing wasn't real. It's proof you're human, and that forgiveness is often a process rather than a one-time decision.

Second, understand where real rest comes from. Rest isn't something you earn by finally getting over everything perfectly. It's something you're invited into, today, not someday once you've fully processed every old wound.

Third, find a place that will walk with you through it, not just talk at you about it. Healing residue isn't a solo project. It happens in community, in prayer, and over time, which is part of why gathering with other people matters more than most of us expect.

If you've been carrying something for a long time and you don't have a church home to process it with, we'd love to meet you.

Come as you are. We'll leave the light on.
